DustyBlues Photography Classes
Class Information and Schedule:
July 13, 2017: 6 PM - 8 PM - DustyBlues Gallery
An introduction class into developing your vision and a proper workflow for bringing this vision to reality. This class discusses each individual's particular focus with photography, what stories, emotions, expressions, etc. that they want to realize. Class size limited to 6 participants. DBLLC would work with each class member to discuss their method of capture, review their compositional selections and provide input as to what might enhance their compositional selection as well and subject framing, and the visual literacy of areas within each selection.
August 10, 2017: 6 PM - 8 PM - DustyBlues Gallery
This class will cover the basics of a workflow in Photoshop, from capturing the image in camera in Raw format to using Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom to ingest images, naming, keywording and initial raw processing and preparing them for use in Photoshop. Once in Photoshop a basic workflow and guidelines for processing images through creating a print. Discusses whys of each workflow steps and any caveats. Requirements: Basic Photoshop skills, bringing a laptop with Photoshop installed, Lightroom as well but maybe not a prerequisite.
September 14, 2017: 6 PM - 8 PM - DustyBlues Gallery
This class discusses each individual's particular focus with photography, what stories they want to express, emotions, expressions, etc. Class size limited to 6 participants. DBLLC would work with each class member to discuss their method of capture, camera settings to tell their story, lens selection and then work individually to analyze their selections and discuss methods that might enhance their creativity to better develop that creativity and increase their "keepers"
Fine Art Printing Class:
October 12, 2017: 6 PM - 8 PM - DustyBlues Gallery
Class provides participants with the skills and insights for creating their own fine art prints. Includes discussion on inks, matte or black, paper choice and selections and insights as to the various qualities each substrate has and how these should be thought of when planning to print. Includes soft proofing, color matching and profiling, Monitor calibration, out-gassing, test prints, adjustments along the process, Color vs. Black and white, metallic papers, thoughts on framing and glass/Plexiglas selections for longevity. Archival expectations, wall placements and problem solving.
Preparing Images for Mounting:
November 9, 2017: 6 PM - 8 PM - DustyBlues Gallery
Val leads this one and covers most aspects of image preparation for wall hanging. These include materials selections and insights, matte sizing and choices, printing for proper matte framing Linen tape selections, corner selections, using rulers to assure each selection is exact, copyrighting, signatures, glass selection for frames, cleaning glass tips, various frame criteria and gotchas, Touch-up tips, Canvas Gallery wrapping, coating canvases, etc.
